2010 Property Taxes are due August 16, 2010.
In the 2010 Operating Budget, council approved an increase in municipal taxation revenue of $22,519. for a total of $666,941 or a 3.5% incease over last year. In 2010, the Village portion of the education tax is 6.4% highter than 2009's; the Seniors Housing requistion is 67% higher than 2009, and the ambulance requisition has been removed with the service transfer to Alberta Health Services.
Overall assessment has increased by $909,950 or 1.5% which is due to new non residential construction and a deflated residential market due to the turn in last years economy.
The overall residential tax rate has increased 1%
The overall non residential tax rate has decreased 1%
The overall machinery and equipment tax rate has increased by 1%
The 2010 Operating and Capital Budgets for the Village of Forestburg enable Council to sustain the current level of public services, facilities and utilities for all Forestburg residents, as well as continue to renew existing infrastructure. A Culture and Recreation Special Tax of $200 per account has been levied in keeping with Council's philosophy of partially funding culture and recreation operations.
Capital and operational projects planned for 2010 include 41st Ave., 43rd Ave. and 49th St. road improvements, new multipurpose recreation facility, sidewalk repairs, fire truck purchase, public works equipment purchases, new highway entrance sign, and annexation of land. The budget provides for transfer to reserves for future capital projects for public works equipment, water treatment plant replacement and land development.
