Diplomat Mine Museum

Diplomat Mine Interpretive Site, 8km west and 8km south of Forestburg on Highway 855.  See the Marion 360 stripping shovel, the star attraction in Canada's only museum devoted to surface coal mining!  Annual Open House, June 27,  2010.  Annual Open House, the third Sunday of June in future years.  Washrooms.  Ample Free Parking.  Admission by donation.  Open daily - weather permitting

The Diplomat Mine Museum Society is looking for volunteers.  Our members maintain equipment on the site.  We host the Annual Open House in June.  We have an annual General Meeting, further meetings only if circumstances warrant.   If you would care to join our group, please contact Ryan Hunting @ ryan.hunting@persona.ca or 780-582-3747 or Gordon Lunty @ glunty@persona.ca or 780-582-4285.

under the Historical Resources Act of Alberta.

This is the first designation ever awarded to

a piece of mobile equipment.
